The first question to ask of the data set is a rather simple one, but let's state it as precisely as
possible:
“How does the amount of refuse (in tons) that DSNY reportedly collected from each borough
during September 2011 compare?”
To find the answer, we'll start by connecting Tableau to the data set by clicking Connect to
Data and browsing to the file. Once you have Tableau connected to the DSNY Collection
Tonnages data set, you will see Sheet 1 as a blank canvas with the data fields arranged, as
shown in
Figure 3-2
.
