Sheet and creating two “dummy” calculated fields, called Left and Right , as shown in Fig-
ure 14-8 .
These fields do nothing more than add two new Dimensions that we can use to create func-
tional arrows. To create the actual arrows, we'll do the following (starting with the Left ar-
row):
1. Add a new Sheet and change the Marks type from Automatic to Shape .
2. Drag the Left Dimension to the Shape card.
3. Edit the shape by clicking into the legend and choosing a left arrow icon (from the Ar-
rows shape palette, or from another you add to your My Tableau Repository Shapes
folder).
4. Format the icon by increasing its size, eliminating Row and Column borders, and
adding a Tooltip that says Go to Previous Slide . I also dragged the Left Dimen-
sion to Color and changed it to gray.
5. Rename the Sheet tab Left and repeat steps 1-5 similarly with another new Sheet to
create a right arrow. The finished gray Left arrow Sheet is shown in Figure 14-9 .
