5. Right-click on the top x-axis (Day of Took office) and select
Synchronize Axis
.
6. Right-click on the top x-axis again and uncheck “Show Header.”
The resulting view is shown in
Figure 9-25
with a few reference lines added for context.
This turns out to be a very interesting and useful way to show events over time, as it's easy to
identify presidents who died while in office, as well as to see the number of previous and fu-
ture U.S. presidents who were alive during the Civil War, for example.
The timeline is a visual history, and because it's visual, patterns and relationships emerge in
ways that are difficult to explain using only words.
