In-Depth Information
What does the checkbox in the bottom left mean? It says “Include command buttons,” and if
the checkbox is checked, then the footer of the tooltip shown in Figure 8-6 will appear, al-
lowing the user to perform a variety of filtering and grouping actions with the selected
points. Only check this box if you want the user to be able to filter or group points directly. I
almost always uncheck this box, as I prefer to use Quick Filters to allow the user to control
what data is shown and what is not shown in the view.
Annotations
Let's say we don't want to show a whole bunch of player names as labels, we just want to
show Gretzky and Lemieux. How can we do that? First, let's get rid of the labels by dragging
the blue Player pill next to the Abc symbol out of the Marks area. Next, right-click on the
circle for Gretzky and select Annotate Mark . In the resulting dialog box, let's delete
everything except <Player> and click OK . After we do the same for the blue circle for Mario
Lemieux, we get the scatterplot shown in Figure 8-8 , with the annotations moved to a con-
venient place on the view.
