In professional hockey, players earn a point toward their career statistics in one of two ways:
they either score a goal themselves or they earn an assist by enabling a teammate to score a
goal. A player's point total is simply the sum of their goals and assists. Goals and assists are
also recorded individually, and you can find an updated table of career stats online that can
be searched and filtered.
