of Pifithrin- , which was originally developed as a p53 inhibitor with radioprotective

properties (Komarov et al., 1999; Davidson et al., 2008). Collectively, these con-
siderations illustrate that studies in zebrafish may provide useful and novel infor-
mation to complement the characterization of modifiers of the radiation response in
higher vertebrates.
