BM-derived SC intramyocardial application in cardio surgery
By intensifying myeloablative therapy with SC rescue as well as by increasing
the use of allogeneic transplants and different cell-mediated therapeutic approaches,
the higher needs for both SCs and practical operating procedures appeared to mini-
mize cell damage during collection and cryostorage. Cryobiosystem must effec-
tively protect the biological and physical properties of cells that can be altered
radically by the freezing/thawing process, and include techniques and materials
appropriate for human use. Nowadays, a variety of different experimental and clini-
cal freezing protocols are in practice, implying that the optimal procedure is not
defined yet. Certain cryobiological techniques applicable in cryopractice should be
revised for optimization of the postthaw cell recovery and viability.
