Olfactory system in human
The olfactory sensors are located in the olfactory epithelium in the roof of the
two nasal cavities between the eyes as shown in Fig. 3.3 . Odor sensations are
produced by the interaction of the odors with special trans-membrane receptors in
the olfactory epithelium. Schematic of the human olfactory, which is includes
olfactory receptors, olfactory bulb shown in Fig. 3.4 .
Olfactory system has its three main components.
1. The layer of receptors in the nose.
2. The olfactory bulb.
3. The prepyriform cortex.
