The intensity of therapeutic gene expression (cdIREStk39gfp), which is equiv-
alent to transduction eciency and the \tissue-dose" of vector-mediated ther-
apeutic gene expression, is measured by [ 18 F]FHBG-PET (in %ID/g), and the
induced therapeutic effect is measured by [ 18 F]FLT-PET (R=0.73, p<0.01).
The therapeutic effect ([ 18 F]FLT) was calculated as the difference between
[ 18 F]FLT accumulation before and after therapy.

that are being used to image transduced genes by PET or optical imaging can
be applied to study stem cell transplantation [28] or transcriptional regulation
in gliomas [13].
