In-Depth Information
This notion is, perhaps, the most difficult idea of all for many people
to accept: that robots can create offspring whose genetic makeup is based
partly on that of the robot parent and other robots with which it has
come into contact, and partly on that of the robot's human lovers, friends
and acquaintances. It will not even be necessary for a robot to have sex
with a human in order to reproduce—the act of making love will become
something indulged in purely for emotional and physical satisfaction and
pleasure, totally unconnected with the creation of the next generation.
Who can say with any certainty that this is not how humans and robots
will co-exist in the second half of the twenty-first century?
