Ko Lanta
This calmer island destination is popular with older tourists and families that are looking to
get away from the party atmosphere of nearby Ko Phi Phi. Less discovered but still popular
with plenty of resorts but the beaches won't be full as there are plenty to choose from. There
are lush forests and pristine coral reefs teeming with sea life. You can hire a kayak and ex-
plore the mangroves from sea level. After exploring the coast you can wander inland to the
Khao Mai Kaew Caves at the center of the island to see the caverns, stalactite and stalag-
mites. It's a great place to try fishing, Muay Thai, snorkeling, trekking, get a massage, and
go for a dive.
The most popular beach is Klong Dao, a two mile stretch of sand with ample space for
everyone. Nearby there are plenty of options for accommodation and other tourist amenities.
There are a few bars around but not a party destination.
