When to go
The central region of Thailand is warm all year round, lacking the cooling altitudes in the
north. In November to February the temperature is coolest with an average daily high of 85
degrees Fahrenheit and dropping to the mid 60s at night. The air is drier and cooler making
it the best time to visit central Thailand, though it is still tropical and sunny. Bangkok is the
world's hottest city at just 14 degrees north of the equator.
March to June is the hot dry summer season with temperatures in the mid nineties but it can
feel even hotter when the humidity kicks in. A great time to visit if you love saunas but be
sure to drink plenty of fluids and stay out of the sun during the middle of the day so you
don't become dehydrated.
Finally from June to October is the rainy season in the central region and this is the time
when flooding can be a problem around the country. The rain showers typically come in the
late afternoon and last until the early evening. The humidity hovers under 90% making the
capital very wet and rainy all the time.
