Adjusting the Audio
Levels value either
boosts or attenuates the
track's volume. With the
Waveform Display
open, change the Audio
Levels value. When the
levels are raised too
high (overdriven) the Waveform clearly shows clipping. Slide the Time Scale
Navigator to the right (or press ' ; ') so the Timeline is displaying only a few
frames, and the audio track's waveform becomes more defined.

To help assist in the process of tracking audio beats and sync points, After Effects
has the ability to place Markers on-the-fly as you preview an audio track. To listen
to an audio track you can either double-click on the audio file in the Project
Window or press the Decimal key on your keypad to run an Audio Preview. With
the former method you can hear the entire track, while the latter only lets you
play a duration preset in the
Audio
Preview menu (check that the Audio Preview duration in the Preferences is set to
at least 15 seconds for this exercise).
