Pixel Aspect Ratio - When a Square Pixel is Not Square
Pixel Aspect Ratio (PAR) refers to a spatial (visual screen area) correction applied
to an image as it is displayed on a TV. Put more simply: it's a kludge to fit more
visual data on your TV screen than it was ever intended to show. Each video
system has its own unique frame size and PAR to fit the production workspace
on their corresponding screens. The next page shows four different NTSC and
