In-Depth Information
Before you can use the Watch Folder command, you first have to create the
common destination for the Watch Folder. This file should be located on a
robust file server, but can just as easily be located on your main workstation
(Windows users: do not use Mapped Network Drives).
1
On your server's fastest hard drive, or your local drive, create a new
folder somewhere within another network accessible folder. It can be
called anything you want, but you might as well call it 'Watch Folder'.
2
On your RenderNode/s, open the
Watch Folder command located in
the main menu:
File
Watch
Folder . . . .
3
Navigate through your network to
the Watch Folder's location, then
click 'OK'.
The Watch Folder dialog is now awaiting
projects to render.
Preparing Your Project for Watch Folder Rendering
There are four prerequisites to preparing your After Effects project for Network
Rendering:
All your Imported resource files need to be accessible to your
RenderNodes
All Render Engine copies of After Effects on your RenderNodes must
have the same authorized plug-ins as the machine that created the
project
All RenderNodes need the same fonts installed as the machine that
created the project
All RenderNodes need the same Codecs installed as used in all your file
resources.
Import Network Accessible Files - This is the most common SNAFU of
novices to Network Rendering. If all of your files reference your local hard drive,
versus your hard drive as seen on a network, the RenderNodes won't be able to
find the project files needed to render.
