true three-dimensional object, just a two-
dimensional object that is projecting into the

table
A matrix of information arranged like a
spreadsheet, usually included in construc-
tion or mechanical drawings, that contains
data presented in rows and columns sepa-
rated by lines.
tiling
The repeating of an image map over the sur-
face of an object.
toolbar locking
template drawing
A feature whereby a toolbar can be semi-
permanently fixed in a position on the screen
and can't be accidentally moved.
A drawing that has been set up to serve as
a format for a new drawing. This allows the
user to begin a new drawing with certain
parameters already set up, because various
settings have been predetermined.

temporary tracking points
transparency
The temporary points that are set up for use
in Object Snap Tracking .
A property assigned to layers or objects that
makes it possible to see through them. By
default, all objects have a transparency of 0
and are completely opaque; the higher the
number, the more clearly the objects under-
neath can be seen. See also screening .
text style
A collection of settings that controls the
appearance of text and is saved in a drawing
under a specified name. Text placed in the
drawing will follow the settings of the cur-
rent text style.
TRANSPARENT command
A command that can be executed while
another command is running, without inter-
fering with the running command. Display
commands, such as Zoom and Pan , are
transparent.
thaw
The option of the layer property called
Freeze/Thaw that turns on the visibility of
objects on layers and allows AutoCAD to con-
sider the geometry of these objects during a
selection or regeneration . See also layer .
true ratio
An expression of two numbers that defines
the actual size differentiation in a scale;
that is, the number of units represented by a
single unit. See also scale factor .
thickness
The property of a two-dimensional object
that defines how far it is extruded in a
direction perpendicular to the plane in
