Running object Snap
The vertical distance from one step tread to
the next.
An Object Snap mode that has been set to be
activated continually until turned off.
Ribbon

The user interface element at the top of the
drawing area where most of the AutoCAD
2011 tools can be found. The Ribbon is sub-
divided into Ribbon tabs , Ribbon panels, and
Ribbon tools .
scale factor
The number that expresses the true ratio of
a scale. For example, 48 is the scale factor
for quarter-inch scale (¼″ = 1′-0″). See also
annotation scale.
Ribbon panel
Any of the subdivisions of the Ribbon that
house related commands and tools.
screening
Expressed as a percentage of black; plot style
table property which emulates transparency
by reducing the number of dots used to fill a
region. See also transparency .
Ribbon tab
A collection of commands, usually organized
by task such as annotation, drawing manage-
ment, and so on. Each collection represents
the highest level of Ribbon organization, and
displays as a tab atop the Ribbon interface.
selection cycling
A procedure for selecting a particular object
when it coincides with one or more other
objects. To contextually choose a specific
object, enable the Selection Cycling drawing
mode from the status bar, and choose the
object you would like to select; then choose
the exact object by name from the contextual
dialog that displays. Otherwise, hold down
the Shift key and the spacebar and then click
to cycle through available objects until the
particular object you want becomes dashed.
When that happens, release the Shift key and
spacebar and press ↵.
Ribbon tools
The individual icons organized within
Ribbon panels that launch commands and
perform other drawing functions such as set-
ting the current text and dimension style.
rubberbanding
The effect of a line extending between the
last point picked and the crosshair cursor ,
stretching like a rubber band as the cursor is
moved.
selection mode
run
The phase of a command that requires the
user to select objects, and thereby build up
a selection set of objects to be modified by
or otherwise used in the function of the
command.
The distance from the front of a step tread to
the back.
