EXPLODE
The angle, from a camera's location, visible
through its lens.
A command to undo a grouping of objects.
It can be used on blocks , multiline text ,
polylines , and dimensions. Exploded multi-
line text becomes single-line text. Exploded
polylines become lines. Exploded blocks
become the individual objects that make up
the block.
Fill
A display mode that can be set to on or off.
When it's set to on, it displays a solid color
for shapes made with wide polylines , 2D sol-
ids, and hatch patterns using the Solid pat-
tern. When it's set to off, the solid color area
is invisible and only the boundary of the fill
is displayed.
external reference
A drawing file that has been temporarily
attached to another drawing for read-only
purposes. Also called an xref .
floating toolbar
A toolbar that is located in the drawing
area. You can move it around by dragging
its title bar.
external reference host file
The drawing file to which external references
have been attached.
floating viewports
extrusion
Openings created in the paper space of a
drawing that allow you to view a drawing in
model space .
1. A two-dimensional object that has been
given thickness . 2. A three-dimensional solid
object (with six sides; front, back, left, right,
top, and bottom), or three-dimensional surface
object (with four sides; front, back, left, and
right) created with the EXTRUDE command, by
sliding a closed two-dimensional shape along a
path that is usually perpendicular to the two-
dimensional shape. If you use the Path option
of the EXTRUDE command, the extrusion need
not be perpendicular to the two-dimensional
shape.
font
A group of letters, numbers, and other typo-
graphic characters all sharing common fea-
tures of design and appearance.
Freeze
The option of the layer property called Freeze/
Thaw that turns off the visibility of objects on
layers and restricts AutoCAD from considering
the geometry of these objects during a selec-
tion or regeneration . See also layer .
