Drawing the Railing Posts
The railing posts are ¾ (20 mm) square components that are 3 -0 (915 mm) long
and spaced with a 4 (102 mm) gap between each one. Once the first object is drawn,
it's simple to use the Endpoint osnap to copy the remaining posts. Here's how:
1. Offset the left post line 4 (102 mm) to the left, and then offset this
line another ¾ (20 mm).
2. Trim these two lines back to the lower edge of the upper rail and to
the upper edge of the lower rail (see Figure 10.22).
FiGuRE 10.22 Draw the first railing post.
3. Start the COPY command, and select the two railing post lines.
Using the Endpoint osnap, select the right endpoint of the lower
railing as the base point and the lower endpoint of the left railing
post line where it meets the railing as the second point, as shown
in Figure 10.23.
4. With the COPY command still running, repeatedly select the bottom
endpoint of the previous, left railing post until there is no longer
room for another post between the railings; then terminate the
command.
Your completed railings should look like those shown in
Figure 10.24.
