OS X Install reinstalls OS X on Mac Pro.
TIPS
Do I need to back up my data before reinstalling?
No, this is not usually necessary. The OS X Installer preserves your user accounts, set-
tings, and data. However, it is a good general rule to back up your data before any major
computer operation, so if you have access to Mac Pro, run a backup before reinstalling OS
X.
Can I still access the Recovery HD if I replaced my Mac Pro hard drive?
No, when you are dealing with a brand new hard drive, the Recovery HD is available only
after OS X has been reinstalled. However, if you created an OS X Recovery Disk, as de-
scribed in Chapter 16 , you can boot to that disk and install OS X from there.
