Erase a Hard Drive
The previous section, “ Erase a Hard Drive ' s Free Space,” discussed how to ensure that de-
leted files cannot be viewed using disk recovery software by overwriting the deleted file loca-
tion with zeroes. If you have a hard drive that contains personal, secure, or sensitive data
and you no longer want to use that drive, you should ensure that the entire drive cannot be
viewed with disk recovery software. You do this by writing over the entire drive with random
or gibberish data.
Erase a Hard Drive
Click Spotlight ( ).
Type disk .
Click Disk Utility .
The Disk Utility window appears.
