TIP
What do I do if my modem has a serial port instead of a USB port?
Although almost all new modems come with USB ports, many older modems use a serial
port instead. Your Mac Pro does not have a corresponding serial port, so you need to pur-
chase a serial-to-USB adapter or cable, which has a serial connector on one end and a
USB connector on the other. You will also likely need to locate a device driver that enables
your Mac Pro to communicate with the modem. Check the manufacturer's website to see if
a 64-bit Mac driver is available.
