Connect and Configure a Microphone
If you want to supply audio input to your Mac Pro, you must connect an external microphone,
which could either be a standalone mic or a headset. This enables you to provide voice input
for a number of apps, including FaceTime (for video phone calls), Messages (for audio
chats), and iMovie (for adding narration).
Although in most cases your Mac Pro automatically configures the connected microphone as
your default audio input device, you should check that this is the case and set up the micro-
phone as your audio input device by hand if needed.

Connect the Microphone

A If your microphone is a USB device, connect it to a USB port, instead.
