In-Depth Information
2. Summarize the inspection routine for a scheduled maintenance visit to a guyed
tilt-up tower. Include all major components or equipment to be assessed and
how the assessment should be done.
3. Discuss three safety precautions mentioned in this chapter. Explain what can
happen if these precautions are not respected.
4. Suppose your company has three towers in the field. Develop a specification
for the instrumentation on each tower (e.g., numbers and types of anemometers,
wind vanes, and other sensors), and define and price—using the Internet—an
adequate spare parts inventory.
5. Why might it be a good idea from time to time to remove the anemometers
on a wind monitoring tower and send them to be recalibrated? For one of the
towers you specified in Question 4, describe a suitable removal schedule.
