8. Toledo
Toledo was once a melting pot of Jewish, Muslim, and Christian cultures which makes for
an interesting combination of architecture in the city. The city, built on a hill fairly close to
Madrid, has a diverse assortment of monuments. Toledo was once home to the outstanding
artist, El Greco, and as a result exhibits many of his masterpieces. The one monument you
must visit is Toledo's extravagant cathedral, one of the largest in the world.
