Many museums around Paris are open until midnight and
free. An excellent opportunity to explore and very popular
since it began in 2003.

Fête de la Musique
An outdoor music festival held in celebration of summer.
Musicians from all over the world descend upon France
to play in the streets. Make sure you bring an instrument!
July
Tour de France Cycling Championship
The famous three-week cycling race across France. For

August
La Fête du Cinema
Three days in August in Paris when all the movie houses
play special i lms and charge just 3 euros.
Mid-September
Les Journées du Patrimoine
This is observed throughout the country with historic
landmarks being opened to the public for free. This
includes buildings usually closed to the public, such as le
Palais de l'Elysée (residence of the President of France).
October
Nuit Blanche
Free access to the contemporary artist studios of Paris
for most of the night. Started in 2002 and as big an event
now as the Fête de la Musique.
International Contemporary Art Fair (FIAC)
Some of the greatest contemporary art works are put on
display at the FIAC. Some may be available for sale.
Mid-November
Beaujolais nouveau
Probably the most over-rated wine in France, this is
uni nished plonk from the grapes of the recent harvest
in the Beaujolais district. If you wish to get in the spirit of
things, be sure to choose a nice Beaujolais Villages instead.
