In-Depth Information
The Aude region is a relatively new grape growing area and
has not enjoyed the prestige of an AOC designation, which
delimits its vineyard practices and its grapes. However, the
good hot summers in the Aude produce abundant harvests
with good sugar in the grapes, so the resultant wines have
good character, especially for the price. They tend to be a little
fruitier and more alcoholic than other French reds, as they get
more sun, so more sugar. They are usually sold very young.
