How It Works
In this example, we restored and recovered the entire database. We used the current control file and had all redo
required to recover the data files up to the last transaction that was committed in the database. You can use Enterprise
Manager to perform almost every restore and recovery scenario. The actual screens used in a restore and recovery
operation will vary by quite a bit depending on the type of failure and your backup strategy.
It is beyond the scope of this topic to describe every different restore and recovery scenario available through
Enterprise Manager. The main point of this recipe is to give you enough information to get you successfully started
with restore and recovery. Enterprise Manager is pretty good at displaying what options are available and how to
use them.
If you want to restore your control file, ensure that your database is in nomount mode before you start the
process described in this recipe. Enterprise Manager will display control file restore options only if your database is first
placed in nomount mode.
