Box 41.2 Internet (global): Florida on-line
The Florida On-Line GIS Mapping tool provides
interactive Internet map access and delivery for spatial
data and information on the Florida coastline. Users
select a map topic from a menu. Using ESRI's Map Cafe,
the selected map is delivered to the screen 'on the fly' by
the server, and a range of tools allow the user to interact
with the map, e.g. switching layers on and off, zooming in
and out of the map.

Box 41.3 Digimap
Digimap is an Internet-based map data access jointly
hosted by the Ordnance Survey (OS) and the University
of Edinburgh and provides students and researchers with
direct access to Ordnance Survey digital map and
elevation data. Access requires a userid and password.
The user selects a map area from the UK outline map
provided and subsequently defines and redefines the
area of interest, eventually choosing to download the
NTF (OS National Transfer Format) map data in a zipped
file for conversion to a GIS format.
