Add Texture to the Mirror Plane
Suggesting brushed aluminum for the mirror plane oval is quite
easy when you use one of Xara's fractal fills. Follow these steps
to enrich the look of the composition and to conclude your
adventures in chrome:
1.
Drop a copy of the oval mirror plane object away from
the drawing.
Fill it with about 60% black.
2.
3.
With the Transparency Tool, select the object and then
choose Fractal Clouds from the Transparency Shape
drop-down list on the Infobar.
Hold
4.
SHIFT and drag the top transparency handle
downward. Doing this breaks the proportions of the
fill. Drag down until the fill looks like thin horizontal
lines and then, while holding SHIFT , drag the handle just
a little to the right to offset the fractal pattern, adding a
little more photorealism in its irregularity.
Put the object into Stained Glass transparency mode and
5.
then move it until it's aligned with the original mirror
plane oval. Play with the Transparency slider to get an
appealing visual tone.
Press
6.
CTRL - SHIFT - B to put the transparency oval shape
behind the top text and its conical fill pieces. Figure 7-6
shows the finished piece.

Yes, it looks nice, but
is it Art?
