Create dramatic
changes to illustrations when
you've tagged colors.
Options for Named Colors
A few more items need to be explained with named colors. You can
do the following with features not covered in the preceding steps:
N
Linked To Another Color
This is not quite the same
as a Named Color. You can fill a shape with a named
color (let's call it the child color ) in the top drop-down
list in the Color Editor. Then choose to make this shape's
color linked to another color from the Parent: drop-down
list to choose the parent color to link to. You then will see
an Inherit field at the bottom of the Color Editor, based
on your color model. You can choose—by unchecking—
to select Hue, Saturation, Value, or any combination
of color model components. Then (without any items
selected) if you edit the named parent color (by choosing
it in the top drop-down list of the Color Editor), you'll
see really dramatic changes to the linked (child) colors
as well. The changes might be unexpected if linked
colors are not harmonious, but with a little practice you'll
achieve the ultimate in color-editing flexibility.
