A tint is a color mixed with white when using physical
pigments; the result is always a lighter color we
sometimes call a pastel . You can also link a tint to a parent
named color. Select the top triangle with the Selector
Tool and then choose Tint Of A Different Color from the
Parent: drop-down list and choose the named color.
Adjust the color, using the slider presented in the Color

Editor.
Save the file when you have colored all the facets of the

icosahedron.
Ready to perform a feat of minor magic? With no object
selected (press ESC to deselect all shapes), on the Color Editor,
choose your named color from the drop-down list at top left.
Then drag the Hue slider, adjusting the Saturation and Value to
your taste. Figure 5-7 has been edited to show you a night-and-
day difference in your coloring work—the icosahedron at left
would change color as well as the one on the right if its shapes
were named colors.
Download Train.xar, a finished illustration that uses two
named colors. Take the first two colors out for a spin and change
the composition's colors. Figure 5-8 is just an example of the
multiple use of named colors and the unparalleled flexibility
your drawings can have when you tag colors you define.
