Orcaella brevirostris (Irrawady dolphin)
Orcaella brevirostris inhabits three river systems (Mekong, Mahakam, and Ayeyarwady)
in southeastern Asia. Researchers of this dolphin species were still analyzing their most
current data at the time of publication of this topic and therefore we have not included its
description, except to recognize that it does exist and that it is also threatened by human
activities (a critically endangered species). We and other dolphin scientists look forward to
observing contributions of new Orcaella papers to the scientific literature in the near future.
