In-Depth Information
South London
The city's least visited part lies south of the River Thames, a hotchpotch of working class
neighborhoods, sprouting financial districts, and one of the planet's most diverse popula-
tions. Some might call it a city upon itself, others could say it's a dozen individual cities
with no relation to the next. Still more will claim that it lacks an identity. However, those
prepared to cross the Thames will explore a misunderstood and vastly different side to the
city.
Young people wanting to get off the beaten track will love boroughs like Brixton and
Clapham, home to all night parties and a thick undercurrent of the underground. Wandering
away from the Thames brings a mixture of converted warehouses and gleaming new sky-
scrapers. It's an affordable part of the city and transport connections are good, although a
little slow.
