Combination Management Styles
To find your ideal style of management, customize and combine until you find the right fit.
Night stall/day turnout. If you like the security and convenience of keeping your horse
in a stall at night and you have access to pastures for daily turnout, you can devise a turnout
schedule that will satisfy your needs and result in a happy horse.
Night pasture/day barn. Keeping your horse in a stall or sheltered pen at the barn during
the day will make it handy when you want to groom, ride, or perform health care tasks. If
you turn your horse out to pasture after dusk and bring him in before dawn, he will miss
the thickest fly and mosquito times, yet will have 8 to 10 hours of grazing time during the
night. Depending on the quality of your pastures, you might only have to offer him some
“busy hay” during the day.
