Veterinary and Farrier Care
If you follow good management practices, your veterinary and farrier bills will be routine
and minimal. When you find a good veterinarian, discuss your overall management plan
and determine which health care tasks you will perform as a horse owner and which your
veterinarian will provide. For example, you might feel comfortable deworming your own
horses, but you'd rather your veterinarian give your horses their yearly vaccinations, dental
care, and checkup. (For more information, see Hill, Horse Health Care [Storey, 1997].)
