Companionship
Since a horse is a social creature, a single horse can often be lonely if he can't interact with
others of his species. Horses do not need actual physical contact with one another, but if
they can be near enough to see, smell, and hear each other, they will often be content. The
more you interact with your horse, the more you will provide him with some of the aspects
of companionship that he would normally get from other horses. This point should not be
taken too far, however, because you are not a horse and he is not a human. If you keep
things in perspective, you can develop a healthy partnership with your horse and you will
both be better off for it.
Sometimes a companion animal such as a goat or a burro will help alleviate a single
horse's loneliness. Horses have been successfully pastured and housed with many types of
animals, including cattle, sheep, and goats.
As yearlings, Aria and Seeker were very close.
