Burial at an animal cemetery is also an option but an expensive one (about $1000) that is
not available in all areas. If you have a large enough tract of land, the best solution might be
to prepare a final resting place for your horse on your own property. Local zoning, health,
and environmental protection regulations vary widely, so check before you dig.
Burial of dead animals should not result in contamination of groundwater, and the grave
needs to be deep enough so as not to encourage or permit access by vermin, scavengers,
and other potential vectors of disease.
