well.
Another connector is a high-density molecular rubber strap that wraps around two panel
verticals and fastens to a special hook. The gap between the panels is 1¼ inches. Because
of the rubber connectors, the pen is somewhat flexible and quiet on impact. However, a
rubbing horse
can
cause these connectors to come undone, and the rubber degrades after
several years in the sunlight.
The “butterfly” or W-shaped connector consists of two two-piece clamp sets with one
carriage bolt and nut per set. A wrench is required to connect the panels. When using the
panels for a single enclosure like a round pen, the smooth bolt heads can be located on the
inside for safety, but if installing the panels side by side as with runs, the sharper nut ends
of the bolts might present a possible injury site or a place for rubbing for the horse whose
pen they project into.
