In-Depth Information
Unlessyouareexperienced withthemechanics offarmequipment, thinktwice about
buying a used baler—they can be quirky.
Balers have a deserved reputation for mechanical quirks. They are amazing and intricate
machines, and many things can go wrong. If a piece of equipment is going to break down
on your farm, it will be the baler. They are difficult to understand and troubleshoot, expens-
ive to work on, and will frustrate you, especially if you don't know anything about farm
equipment! So unless you can justify baling your own hay economically, stay away from
balers.
CARTS
Many small tasks around your horse farm are best accomplished with a cart.
During chore time, a two-wheeled cart can handily haul feed behind a garden tractor.
Every horse farm needs one or two handcarts, depending on the particular use. Two-
wheeled carts are more stable than wheelbarrows when it comes to moving heaping loads
of manure or bedding.
