In-Depth Information
top link or center link, dictates the angle of the implement to the ground and serves as a
pivot point to raise the implement. When the implement is raised, the added weight on the
tractor's rear wheels increases traction.
Most modern compact tractors have either a Category 1 or 2 three-point hitch (see chart).
Some Category 1 implements can be adapted to Category 2 hitches, but Category 2 imple-
ments cannot fit a Category 1 hitch. ( Category refers to the size of the connecting pins and
the strength of the components.)
Appearance
Don't be overly influenced by a shiny appearance, as fresh paint can often cover up signi-
ficant problems. Ninety percent of all tractors are stored outdoors. This means that many
tractors that are functionally sound may look weather-beaten, with oxidized paint and
tattered seat covers. One item of appearance that you should be concerned with is weather-
checked tires.
