BARN : See page 89 for detail. Added tack room (see page 115 for detail) and stalls in-
side; added 16′×48′ hay storage area.
SHOP : 48′×100′; also accommodates tractor storage.
FENCING : Cross fences of various types: metal T-posts with smooth wire and/or elec-
tric,buckfencewheremetalpostscannotbedrivenduetorockyground.V-meshwire
on the inside of existing smooth wire fence on the east and southeast fences to keep
out neighbors' cattle. Also some post and board, and metal panels used for training
and holding pens.
ARENA : 160′×100′ square post and board with native soil (decomposed granite) foot-
ing. Location was dictated by the presence of rocks and the lay of the land. Excava-
tion into hill-side was required, leaving 16′ banks on the east and west sides. Pasture
fences skirt these banks to prevent erosion from horse traffic.
PENS : Round pen, 65′ diameter round post and board with sand footing. Four metal
panel pens 16′×32′.
PASTURES : Used primarily for exercise, as fragile mountain grasses afford only lim-
itedgrazing.South:approximately6acres;provideswaterfromcreek.West:approx-
imately 3 acres. East: approximately 6 acres; provides seasonal water from spring.
LANDSCAPING : Wildlife area: entire central area (between east and west pastures) is
off limits to free horses; thus it is a protected habitat for wildlife.
PRIVACYBORDER :Treesplantedalongthenorthfencebetweenthespringandrocks
provide visual screen from road.
