On the other hand, when a relatively fast
chemical reaction subsequent to electron
transfer is involved in the electrode process, as
indicated in Eqs. 2.4 and 2.5 (EC process), the
peak potential shifts depending on the
magnitude of its rate constant ( k ) and the size
of the back peak in the reverse scan should be
decreased. In this case the peak potentials
cannot be used as the thermodynamic index for
the oxidation/reduction of the studied species.
