Sulfide 1 (0.1 mmol) and α-phellandrene 2 (0.4
mmol) are dissolved in 1.0 M LiClO 4 /CH 3 NO 2
(15 ml). Constant potential electrolysis (1.2 V
vs. Ag/AgCl) is performed using a glassy carbon
anode covered with poly(tetrafluoroethylene)
(PTFE) and a platinum plate cathode. After the
passage of 1.2 F mol −1 of charge, the product is
extracted with hexane (10 ml) several times.
The organic layer is dried over Na 2 SO 4 and
product 3 is confirmed by TLC.
