In the potentiostatic method a three-electrode
system is used and the applied potential to the
working electrode is controlled by a
potentiostat with a monitoring charge. In the
galvanostatic method a two-electrode system
consisting of a working electrode and a counter
electrode is used, and constant current is
passed between them by a DC power source.
