Moreover, ethereal solvents such as DME are
much more suitable than MeCN for the anodic
fluorination of various heterocyclic sulfides ( Eq.
5.35 ) [87]. The pronounced solvent effect of
DME could be explained in terms of the
significantly enhanced nucleophilicity of
fluoride ions as well as the suppression of
anode passivation and overoxidation of
fluorinated products.
