5.7.5 Electrochemical Fluorination of
Heterocyclic Compounds
Many heterocyclic compounds have specific
biological activities, while it is known that
introduction of fluorine atom(s) to organic
molecules dramatically changes or enhances
their biological activities. However, selective
fluorination of heterocyclic compounds using
conventional fluorinating reagents is not easy.
Many successful examples of selective anodic
fluorination of heterocycles containing sulfur,
nitrogen, oxygen and phosphine have been
reported to date [72,79]. Some examples are
shown in Table 5.4 .
