Travelling in Mallorca without speaking a single word of Spanish or Mallorquin is
entirely possible, but picking up a smattering of these languages will go along way
to winning the affection of the locals. English is widely spoken in the beach resorts
and in major towns, but in the rural hinterland and small villages you'll find it
handy to have a grasp of a few basic phrases, plus it's part of the fun!
