Arriving in Mallorca
Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) Bus 1 runs every 15 minutes from the airport (ground
floor of Arrivals) to Plaça d'Espanya in central Palma (€3, 15 minutes); buy tickets from
the driver. A taxi for the same 15-minute journey from the centre will set you back
between €18 and €22. Some hotels can arrange transfers.
Ferry Port, Palma Bus 1 (the airport bus) runs every 15 minutes from the ferry port (Esta-
ció Marítima) to Plaça d'Espanya. Tickets cost €1.50 and the journey takes 10 to 15
minutes. Expect to pay €10 to €12 for a taxi to the city centre.
Getting Around
Transport in Mallorca is reasonably priced, though buses and trains do not cover every
corner of the island, and services slow to a trickle in the low season. For timetables
throughout the island, head to Transport de les Illes Balears ( www.tib.org ) .
Train Modestly priced and fairly frequent but limited in scope - one line to Sóller in the
west, one to Inca, where the line splits to serve Sa Pobla and Manacor.
Car Great for exploring the island's remoter beaches, hill towns and mountains at your
own pace. Cars can be hired in every town or resort. Drive on the right.
Bus The island's buses cover major towns and many villages. You'll be limited to a hand-
ful of services in low season, while some (for instance to beaches) stop entirely.
See transport for much more.
