This fine old townhouse dates back to the 13th century,
which is still visible in its architecture, such as the defence tower (now a library) and a
former jail; the family who run it also descend from the original owners. There is a
peaceful pool and the rooms seamlessly blend white-washed minimalism with historic
features like beams and antique furnishings.

From the out-
side, this place seems like so many other coastal Mallorcan hotels, but there's much to
recommend it. For a start, it's a family-run place, something which shows in the warmth
of the welcome and the attention to detail. Rooms and the terrace have wonderful views
of the pretty cove; the apartments across the road have lesser views.

Barely 300m from the port of Cala Figuera, Hostal Mar Blau
is a friendly, particularly well-priced option. Rooms (the more expensive ones have air-
con and a fridge) are clean as a new pin. For greater independence, go for one of the fully
equipped apartments (minimum stay three days), some of which have sea views.

edge of the resort, this pleasant two-star hotel has enviable views of the sea. Rooms
aren't fancy, but extras like a breezy seaside terrace make this a great choice. The well-
priced apartments across the road are ideal if you're settling in for a longer stay.
